2D Animation & 3D Animation Course Information

This Animation for kids course in Saint John – a unique opportunity for your children to have an unforgettable experience of creativity, working on real projects as a team with their friends.

2D Animation & 3D Animation course offering

Imagine your children can create their own cartoons.  Just a few weeks after the start of the course, your children will be able to draw their own characters and help them start their own lives. They learn how to use the same technique and the same software that was used to create the famous Spongebob cartoon.

On our Animation Course in Saint John NB, they will learn to work in a team, as members of a group of animators and together with friends will create their own stop-motion-animated short film according to their own scripts.

More About This Course

This 2D Animation & 3D Animation course in  Saint John New Brunswick will help kids learn how to create your own original movies using professional software just like the pros! In this course, they’ll create own animated clips using the same techniques as animators at Disney, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon.

 Who this course is for:

This 2D Animation & 3D Animation course is for children who love computers and are interested in modern technologies and modern electronic devices. This course does not require any level of computer knowledge and will be interesting to newcomers as to “experiences” kids.

Each class – two lessons of 45 minutes each. Classes are held ones a week in Saint John Uptown.

 Requirements:

School students from 8 to 12 years old.

Students must have a laptop with Windows operation system and bring it to class.

Start time:

Fall In-Class course
September 7  – December 19, 2020. 15 weeks total.
One week tuition in a small class – $59.00


Fall Web Design Course and Web development course start on September 1, 2020.

  The number of students:

6 – 8 students per class.

Two teachers per class.

1:5 ratio

1:5 ratio Teacher to Student ratio, or better. All instructors are police-checked, first-aid trained, triple-reference checked, and highly trained.

 Certificate of Course Completion

Upon completion of a course, a Certificate will be issued. A course completion certificate says you have attended all the classes required, pass all the tests required and handed in all the work required.

What Students Learn

AFTER  THIS 2D Animation & 3D Animation course (One school year) STUDENT WILL LEARN AND UNDERSTAND: 

12 principles of animation.

Basic concepts of physics and how they apply to animated motion, emotion and acting, and body mechanics.

How to tell a story—everything from basic story structure to staging and cinematography.

Combines concepts learned from Levels 1-3 to help students create their own animated short film.

C.A.T. (Continual Animation Training): Students work together just like a real animation crew to complete a joint film project.

MODULE 1.
The Drawing Course
for animators consists of two levels with the goal of teaching classical drawing skills. Using this foundation, The Drawing Course then launches into the world of characters and design, allowing the student to bridge the gap between imagining a character and then putting that character on the page.

COURSE OFFERINGS

  • Level 1, Fundamentals of Drawing: An introduction to the classic concepts of traditional drawing and how to use them to bring more life-like images to the page.
  • Level 2, Drawing for Animation: The character and design of humans and animals; bringing life to the drawing through the concepts of gesture and expression.

MODULE 2. Principles of animation

Principles of animation. This includes developing or deepening an understanding of movement, timing, and understanding physical effects of weight, etc.

Training in animation software.

Modeling with the creation of simple creatures and objects with primitive shapes and extend to more advanced techniques and artistry.

Motion animation witch allows students to work with key frames to learn motions simulation.

Character design and construction is another key component of animation students will learn.

MODULE 3. Stop Motion And 2D Animation.

Stop Motion And 2D Animation Module. These two different animation techniques in a nutshell: The 2D Animation part is about bringing drawings to life, using computer software to animate characters, adding sound and special effects. Stop Motion Animation is where multiple camera shots are joined together to make a film.

The course also covers the more technical side of making animation, including:

  • Frames and frame rates
  • Timelines
  • Computer-aided drawing
  • Create flowing animation
  • Animation physics – velocity, acceleration, bouncing, etc.
  • Morphing, squashing, stretching
  • Adding sounds such as backing tracks, effects, and voices, then syncing them with the animation
  • Special effects

As any regular classroom, this 2D Animation & 3D Animation  Course begins by viewing a slide presentation and watching a video leсture or by listening to a lecture.

What time do I need to study at home?

Students have to do some home assessments for 1 – 1.5 hours once a week. As in any other class, students should take notes in their notebooks as they study the learning material.

Home assessments

Students should complete a home assessment at a convenient time before the next time and bring this assessment in class. Students will have to complete a certain number of tasks for each week of study. Most assessments are small projects on a base of previous lesson curriculum.  Larger long-term assessments (projects) to be completed at the end of each month of the study or semester.
